Winter Break Notes

Hey All,

If you are reading this, it appears you figured out how to navigate this site.  Congratulations.  In the other section is your workout for the next three weeks.  You should complete this four-day cycle three times before we come back to work January 3rd.  This will leave some extra days that should be filled with TWO ACTIVE REST DAYS PER WEEK AND ONE COMPLETE REST.  You should perform one 60' and one 30' active rest.
A couple tips to a successful break:  Start immediately.  If you put off the workouts, you may never start.  Don't fool yourself into "taking a couple days off".  Excellence is a habit...so is mediocrity.  Do not pat yourself on the back for doing some or half the workouts.  A JOB HALF FINISHED IS A JOB UNFINISHED.  Arrange your social life around your training, not the other way around.  If you have a busy day, either plan that as your rest day or wake up early to train...don't sleep and eat away your whole break.
Run and do your sprint drills on the street, in a field, in a hallway, a gym or anything...get creative...your competitors are finding a way to train.  Would we take the day off because the weather is crummy or we don't have room?  Think about it...If you have to, get a month long gym membership.  Do multi-throws with a rock, bag or weight plate.  Hurdle drills can be done without hurdles.  Do general strength in place of weights if this is your only option.  If something cannot possibly be done, come up with a very good Plan B.  If you have a job, make sure you get your workout done before or after work.
We will resume training as if you have done every workout...don't fall behind during this crucial training period.  Don't let being busy, having to work, traveling, family commitments, facilities or weather be an excuse.  Don't fall into the trap of mediocrity.  If you have ANY questions, please call me at 503 348 8427.
